Surface & Multi-Monitor Capture Methods

1. Hardware Buttons (Power + Volume Up)

On Microsoft Surface Pro, Go, or Duo tablets detached from the Type Cover keyboard, press the physical **Power** button and **Volume Up** button simultaneously. The screen will briefly dim and automatically save the image to Pictures\Screenshots.

2. Surface Pen Top Button Customization

In Windows 11 **Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink**, configure the eraser button shortcut: set **Single-click** to "Screen clipping" to trigger Snipping Tool instantly with pen ink markup ready.

3. Dual-Monitor & Multi-Display Capture

Pressing Win + PrtScn on multi-monitor setups captures all connected displays into one wide image. Use Win + Shift + S > **Window Mode** to select and capture only Monitor 1 or Monitor 2 selectively.

4. Windows 11 Touch Screen Gestures

Swipe down from the top right screen edge with three fingers or tap the **Snipping Tool** touch tile in the Action Center Notification shade to capture a crop box with touch gestures.

How to Setup Surface Pen Screenshot Shortcut

  1. Open Windows 11 Settings (Win + I)

    Go to Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink.

  2. Expand "Choose what your shortcut button does"

    Find the **Single-click** dropdown menu options.

  3. Select "Screen clipping"

    Select **Screen clipping**. Now, pressing the top button of your Surface Pen instantly opens the Snipping Tool!
