How to Use Text Actions OCR Step-by-Step

  1. Take a Screenshot containing text

    Press Win + Shift + S to capture an image of a PDF, website, code snippet, or scanned image.

  2. Click the "Text Actions" Button

    In the Snipping Tool editor toolbar, click the Text Actions icon (looks like a square with lines inside) or press Ctrl + A.

  3. Highlight or Copy

    Text in the image automatically becomes selectable! Click Copy All Text or drag your mouse cursor over specific words to copy them.

  4. Apply Quick Redact

    Click the dropdown arrow next to Text Actions and choose Quick Redact to instantly censor email addresses and phone numbers before copying or saving.
